I recently joined the Mendeley community, and I am trying to understand how to best use tagging information.
I want to tag my papers in order for them to be easily found when searching through certain specific tags. So I tried to add tags to my papers using the web-based version of Mendeley.
I noticed that I can type a tag in capital letters or not, and in different ways; There isn't any pre-filled tag database from where I can pick a pre-made tag. So this is misleading since I can add many variations of a certain tag.
I.e., I can add: MiRNA, miRNA, mirna, MIRNA, MiRNAs, miRNAs, mirnas, MIRNAs, MicroRNA, microRNA, microrna, MICRORNA, MicroRNAs, microRNAs, micrornas, MICRORNAs.
I wonder if people can find my paper if I tag it with "miRNA" and they search for "mirna".
I also noticed that when I search for a paper and visualize it, the web page shows a maximum of 10 tags in alphabetical order. If I add 15 tags to my paper, is the system considering 10 tags only for searches and discarding the other 5 tags that I have added to my paper?
How can we pick the best tags?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
